Der Kleine Hudhud

“Little Hudhud is a very special bird! Not only because he can sing and fly great, but because he and his friends have many adventures and are always there for each other. But one day little Hudhud is saddened by the fact that he can "only" fly. He would much rather be able to climb like his friend Ajla, run fast like Hanna or swim like Frodi. But during a thunderstorm Hudhud makes a dangerous discovery! Quickly Ajla, Hanna and Frodi rush over - will they succeed in averting the danger?

In this book, author Salma Baghajati writes about a bird that is dissatisfied with itself and learns to appreciate itself and its abilities through an adventure. In this way, children should also be strengthened in their identity and perceive diversity as enrichment. For it is the recognition and appreciation of our differences that enables us to achieve great things.”

This is the first children’s story I have had the pleasure to illustrate, written by a friend of mine. “Der Kleine Hudhud” is a story about a hoopoe, Hudhud, and his friends. This initial story, intended as the start of a series, introduces the characters and also deals with the question of finding one’s talents and special characteristics. It was published by the Alhamra Publishing House in Vienna, in June 2020.

This was one of my favourite and most challenging projects so far, since I have not had a lot of experience drawing animal characters. The story is so heartwarming and its characters so charming, that I have fallen in love over and over again with this book.
